Where are you going to be August 12-13, 2016? We are hoping you will be partying with us at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY. The 2016 Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals will be happening on Friday and Saturday, but there is so much to see and do in and around Bowling Green you could make a vacation out of it. Say show up on Monday and stay till Sunday. And you don’t have to bring a car. Just come to the show and check out the over 2000 Tri-Fives in attendance. To help you decide we have put together this handy guide to the 2016 Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals.

Update 6/28/2016:  Most of the details for the show have now been finalized and it’s going to be a blast.  One addition are the drag racing “Fun Runs” that will begin just after the official end of the show at 6pm on Saturday.  From 6-10 Be Cool and the American Tri-Five Association is hosting an afterparty.  Any credential carrying participant will be able to make all the passes down the strip they want until the kick us out at 10pm.  There is more so click HERE to see the Official Event Schedule

Some Concerns From 2015 Addressed

Hours. Hours for the 2016 event will be 8 am thru 6 pm on both Friday and Saturday.  Gates will open at 8 am sharp. The official event schedule has yet to be announced.

Update 6/28/2016:  The Official Schedule of the 2016 Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals has been posted HERE.

Trash Cans.  This year we have added trash cans as well as additional shaded hospitality areas.

Golf Carts.  Anyone wishing to get a Golf Cart for the event is urged to call Saylors Golf Carts at 270.563.4183 or visit them on the web by clicking here → Saylors Golfcarts and reserve one so you will not be disappointed.

Nothing for the Ladies to do.  This year at the Sloan Center on Thursday and Friday there will be Woman’s World, a craft and beauty type show.  It is open to the public and will feature crafts for sale, cooking demonstrations from a local celebrity and other fun stuff.  Hours are 9-8 on Thursday and 9-3 on Friday.

The Heacock Classic Cruise to the Nationals

Holley Tri-Five Drag Racing

Drag WheelstandThis year along with the exhibition and heads up “Fun Runs” there will be a DOT Stock Bracket Class, Junior Eliminator Bracket Class and a Top Eliminator Bracket Class. Winners will receive a trophy & 500.00 cash prize. Top Eliminator Winner will also receive a custom Tri-Five Nationals Top Eliminator

Lokar “Top 25” Car Show, Eddie Motorsports “Fabulous Five” & The 2016 Tri-Five of the Year Award presented by the American Tri-Five Association

LokarNew for 2016, Lokar Performance Products will present the Top 25 Car Show. The winners of the Top 25 will be chosen on Friday and parked in a special area on Saturday.  Then, the winners of the Top 25 will pick, by silent ballot, the Eddie Motorsports Fabulous Five.  From the Fabulous Five a panel of 3 will pick the winner of the 2016 Tri-Five of the Year award presented by the American Tri-Five Association. Ididit Specialty Parking Area

IdiditNew for 2016 will be the Ididit Specialty Parking Area on Saturday. This area will be for those whose cars are “Built, Not Bought” and a celebration of the hobbyists who did it themselves. Friday Night Party and Reception

Partay2Returning for 2016 will be the Friday Night Party and Reception. This year it will be held at the Sloan Convention Center which adjoins the Holiday Inn, Bowling Green; Host hotel for the show. “Celebration of the 60 Years of the 1956 Chevy”

SAM_1032The Coker Tire “Celebration of the 60 Years of the 1956 Chevy” special area for stock restorations or survivors will return.  We encourage anyone with an original car to park in this area for the show.

What else is happening and what are the scheduled items we know about?

On Wednesday night, August 10th, in downtown Bowling Green there will be a Fan Fest with live music, food, local shop specials and a Cruise-In, sponsored by Cruisin’ for a Cure the official charity for the show (Space is limited.)

On Thursday August 11th at the Sloan Convention Center you can….

  1. Register or pick up your packet from 8 am to 8 pm (Must register prior to 8/3/2016 to pick up packet).  Packets will only be mailed to ATFA Members and Drag Racers.  You can register or pick up your packets at Beech Bend Raceway on Friday, 8 am to 5 pm or Saturday 8 am to 12 pm.
  2. Purchase a two-day spectator pass (not bringing a car) for 40.00 and avoid the lines at the venue.  This pass includes a free meal at the Thursday night BBQ and a discount at the Corvette Museum.
  3. Purchase show merchandise in the Merchandise area.  Avoid standing in the sun get your show gear in air-conditioned comfort.
  4. Attend Woman’s World, which is open to the public.  Hours are Thursday from 9-8 and Friday from 9-3.
  5. Thursday Night BBQ, Hot Dogs, Baseball, Apple Pie & Chevrolet.  Free meal to all pass holders and an outdoor band from 7-11.

So there it is. Lots of new stuff to enjoy for 2016 and all the cool stuff, Drag Racing, Autocross and the biggest Tri-Five car show EVER will be returning to Beech Bend Raceway. So come to the show, bring the Family and make a Vacation out of it.  Here are just a few of the attractions to see in and around Bowling Green.

1. Beech Bend Amusement Park

BeechBendMap2199Beech Bend Amusement Park is on the grounds with the Raceway and Drag Strip. Beech Bend Amusement Park will be open on Saturday, August 13th from 10:30 am till 8 pm and Sunday August 14th from 11:00 am till 7:00 pm. Lily Pads at Splash Lagoon

 

Splash Lagoon Water Park, which is undergoing a multi-million dollar expansion that will go on line in June 2016, will be open on Saturday, August 13th from 10:30 am till 7:30 pm and Sunday August 14th from 11:00 am till 6:30 pm. Splash Lagoon Water Park will be closed on Friday the 12th.

Tickets can be purchased online (one ticket, all attractions) and they offer FREE parking and FREE sunscreen

2. The National Corvette Museum

They are open 8 am till 5 pm, 7 days a week and the last tickets are sold at 4:30. 3. Corvette Plant Tour

Corvette PlantTourThe Corvette plant is located just across the street from the Corvette Museum. They offer tours Monday thru Friday at 8:30 am, 11:30 am and 2 pm at a fee of $7 per person, active Military may tour the plant for free with valid Military ID. 4. NCM Motorsports Park

Corvette Museum Motorsports ParkLocated less than 2 miles from the Corvette Museum at the NCM Motorsports park you can go for a ride in a Corvette, drive your car on the road course for a lap, participate in a high performance driving school and/or spectate at any of the many events going on through out the season. 5. Historic Railpark and Train Museum

Train PicThe Historic Railpark and Train Museum, located off I-65 (between exits 28 & 26) at 401 Kentucky St., Bowling Green, KY 42101 is a two-story interactive museum in a 1925 Presidential-Car-08 from Railparkrestored L&N Depot. The Railpark has four cars, engine and caboose. They are open Tuesday thru Saturday 9 am till 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm till 4 pm and they offer tours starting at 10 am.  Get admission pricing and more information at www.historicrailpark.com

6. Lost River Cave and Valley

Cave Tour PicThe Lost River Cave and Valley, located off I-65 (exit 22) at 2818 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101, offers underground Boat Tours that float through Lost River Cave in the middle of Bowling Green. (Ripley’s claims that Lost River is the shortest, deepest river in the world.)
