Over time the area on the clutch shaft or "Z" bar where it mounts at the pivot studs will wear and allow play. You will notice a marked improvement in clutch movement after replacing your original with one of these perfect reproductions. Danchuk # 344 will work on any 1955 classic Chevy model. Remember to replace the pivot studs too!
